Captain Webb's Hole

This is a swallow hole, which lies 60m west of Kelly's Cave. There are many of these swallow holes in the area, but the location of this specific one may be determined by dropping a stone into the hole and listening to hear a splash in the water below.
It  is more of a hole than a cave, whose smooth walls drop away vertically into the depths. For this very reason, it is the most dangerous cave in the area.
Captain Fitzgerald, nicknamed Webb because of a physical deformity, was a noble man with a great influence in the district. He had a craving for women - beautiful or deformed, young or old, married or single. When he tired of his latest lady friend, he lured her into this lovely wood and cast her into this terrible hole. His plan succeeded no less than twelve times. On the thirteenth occasion things backfired. In a moment of carelessness as he gazed into the hole which he would soon have the pleasure of hurling his next victim, the woman seized the opportunity and pushed him into the hole. Webb was consigned forever to the company of the twelve female ghosts in the hole below. All's fair in love and war!
